We have a number of sites of that showcase our heritage, from the Victorian splendor of the 1890 House Museum, to the Suggett House Museum & Kellogg Memorial Research Center located in the Italianate home of inventor and real estate developer James Suggett. Look for the City of Cortland’s Fire Station (one of the oldest residence - style firehouses in America), the New York State Grange Museum and a whole host of historic homes, churches and buildings featuring low-relief sculptures, stained glass windows, gargoyles and architectural details that reflect Cortland’s storied past.


Explore our connection to the Civil War era with local ties to Abraham Lincoln through the Village of Homer’s native sons, Francis B. Carpenter, William O. Stoddard and Eli DeVoe. Travel a little further a field and visit the William H. Seward House and Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn.
