Welcome to the fifth, and final episode of Spirit of Cortland, a 5-part video series created to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week.
National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition for the U.S. travel community. It’s a time when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for our economy, businesses and personal wellbeing.
This year, the COVID-19 public health crisis is having a devastating impact on the U.S. travel and tourism industry, a ripple effect very much felt here in Cortland County. This year, more than ever, the travel and tourism industry must unite together, support each other and remind the country that even through the most difficult of times, the spirit of travel cannot be broken.
With that in mind, the Experience Cortland team created the Spirit of Cortland video series which features video interviews with local tourism partners, stories about how the local industry has adjusted during the pandemic, plans for the future of Cortland County tourism, virtual performances from local musicians and more.
Today's episode will feature all things craft beverage in celebration of making it through another week! We'll talk to Charles from Cortland Beer Company to see what they're making these days besides beer and spirits. If you're looking for something other than a craft beer, we'll talk about the beverages available at Dragonfyre Distillery and Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room. Jason Kristoff from Homer Hops Brewing will then join us for a quick chat about the status of the new tasting room being built just five minutes outside the village of Homer. The Experience Cortland Live Sessions, and the Spirit of Cortland video series will wrap up with a virtual performance by Chris Merkley.
Check out the video below.
The series will be released, one episode per day from May 4-8, across all Experience Cortland social media channels (@experiencecortland) and the Experience Cortland website.
