HIKING & BIKING
C ortland County has over 30,000 acres
of state forest land for outdoor recreation,
hiking and mountain biking—along with miles
of scenic roadways for cycling.
TRAILS
The longest continuous footpath in New York State passes
right through our backyard. The Finger Lakes Trail stretches over
560 miles, a portion of that through Cortland County. You’ll pass
through Cuyler Hill State Forest, Taylor Valley State Forest, Hoxie
Gorge, Tulles Hill, and over Virgil Mountain (the highest point in
Cortland County). If you’re looking for a short walk with scenic
views, take the easy half-mile round-trip hike to Tinker Falls, a
beautiful 50-foot waterfall in Labrador Hollow Unique Area.
