VENUES November 2nd: Cheerful & Creative: Join this Make & Take DIY class to build (yes build!) a SHABBY CHIC platter for your guests for all special events in your life! The project includes all materials for the serving tray. The class takes place from 6 - 8 pm and is designed to be super easy with professional guidance and help from start to finish- just don’t forget it’s BYO Bevies/Snacks, and sign up by calling 607.882.3396 to pay at the door or online. Cinch Art Space: Browse the works of over 60 local artists while enjoying hot mulled cider and snacks. You can also sign-up to learn the basics of quilling as you make Sweet Treats and Animal Buddies from 6 - 8 pm. You'll be rolling, tearing, squeezing and pinching your way to the end product! Each participant will take home their own Quilling Starter Kit consisting of a circle sizer ruler, quilling tool and an assortment of quilling papers. $35 Reservations required. The Cortland Free Library: Come browse the artwork, meet local artists, and enjoy the refreshments. Rick Starmer will also be there, playing live music. Every piece displayed will be offered for sale, including original works as well as prints. You will also have the opportunity to buy art cards created by local artists. Instant Artist: Create a 12x16 “Give Thanks” wood sign on Friday November 2nd 7 - 9 pm at the Instant Artist studio in the historic Cortland Corset Building! Customize background, wreath and lettering colors to your taste or home decor. All instruction and supplies are included. This is a fun and social class, BYOB and snacks welcome. No experience necessary & no pressure! Advanced registration is required and costs $30 per person; more information can be found on www.theinstantartist.com. SikoraArts: View the abstract art of Martha Phillips. Phillips uses the basic elements of form, shape, line and color to bring forth simple yet elegant images in the tradition of Hans Hofmann. A reception with refreshments and live music is planned. "SikoraArts" located at 1010 McLean Road, Cortland, NY. It is at the corner of Pleasentview and McLean. They are open on Friday November 2nd from 5-8pm. Other hours for the space are by appointment by calling at 607-597-9227. There will be signs pointing to the entrance. YWCA Cortland: Photography by Barbara C. Harrison. As a visual artist, Barbara Harrison wanders the environs, eyes in motion–delving into textures, patterns, colors and lines painted by light. Expanding the view a scene presents by altering perspective. Exploring Patterns of Illumination, the observer has a chance to visualize the possibilities, rather than what is.
