Meet the Heart Behind the Adventure

At Experience Cortland, we don’t just promote travel—we live it, love it, and can’t wait to share it. We’re your official insiders to Cortland County: the people who know where to find the best fall foliage hike, which diner serves the fluffiest pancakes, and how to turn a weekend trip into a lifelong memory.

Who We Are

The Cortland County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CCCVB) is the official tourism promotion agency for Cortland County. That means we’re the go-to source for visitors, event planners, media, and anyone curious about this lively corner of New York.

We’re governed by a Board of Directors made up of leaders in local tourism and hospitality, and staffed by passionate professionals who are all-in on making Cortland County shine. Through innovative marketing campaigns, thoughtfully designed travel materials, and strong community partnerships, we work to boost the local economy and help you experience more.

Cortland County: The Crown City & Beyond

Welcome to the Eastern Gateway to the Finger Lakes. Nestled halfway between Syracuse and Binghamton, just a scenic drive from New York City, Buffalo, or Philadelphia  Cortland County offers a surprising mix of small-town charm, natural beauty, and big-time adventure.

  • 49,336 people call this county home, including the vibrant city of Cortland (pop. 19,204), our "Crown City" perched on a plain where seven valleys meet.

  • Made up of 15 towns and villages, from Homer to Harford, each with its own character and story.

  • Once a hub for industry giants like Wickwire Brothers, Brockway Motors, and Smith Corona.

  • Now a proud home to SUNY Cortland and Tompkins Cortland Community College, plus scenic trails, award-winning breweries, farmers markets, and more.

Whether you’re here for adventure, escape, relaxation, or a little bit of everything, you’ll find your pace (and your place) in Cortland County.
