Cortland Youth Bureau’s Summer Drama Program to present Matilda The Musical
Based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book of the same name, Matilda follows Matilda Wormwood (Lucy Bechtel), a bright little girl with astonishing wit, imagination, and psychokinetic powers. Matilda is discarded and belittled by her dimwitted parents (Russell Streeter and Lily Barrett) and her hostile headmistress, the outrageous and wicked Miss Trunchbull (Emma Park-Miller). With a caring protector in her teacher Miss Honey (Bridget Madden), Matilda dreams of a better life, daring to take a stand against unjust forces and to grasp her destiny in her own, tiny hands.
Helping tell the story along the way is an incredible group of young actors and actresses from all across Central New York including Olivia Vitello, Andrew Camillo, Sienna Vidal, Zach Hays, Norah Adams, Annabel Morey, Avi Benjamin, Aria Ashley, Sydney Seybold, Aubrey Towle, Oshianna West, John Ryan, Izzy Beattie, Ricky Osborne, Mackenzie Barnes, Skyler Lang, Aubree Lent, Rachel Spencer, Colin Spencer, Jessica O’Mara, and Breann Brooks.
Performances of Matilda will take place on August 3rd and 4th at 7pm and August 5th at 2pm in Cortland High School’s auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at cybdrama.weebly.com/matilda.
