Looking for the perfect brunch spot this weekend? Check out these six Cortland County eateries, where the crisp waffles, runny eggs and funky breakfast fusions are plentiful, and the cocktails are sure to make your weekend just a little bit brighter.
Nosh: I have three words for you. S'Mores French Toast. Graham cracker-crusted French toast with marshmallow cream and chocolate syrup will bring back the sweetest of childhood memories. If savory is more your style, consider the Jamin' Egg Sammy. Two eggs any style, sausage, smoked gouda cheese sauce, and their famous bacon jam on a warm croissant, because who doesn't need more bacon in their life!
Sips: Build your own flight! Choose any four, of their signature boozy coffees, hot cocoas, or mimosas for the perfect sipping sampler.
Nosh: Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib, the Three Bear's prime rib hash is second to none. Served with potatoes and eggs, it's stick to your ribs good. Or, try my favorite, the Goldilocks Breakfast Nest. Grilled mashed potatoes make the perfect nest for dippy fried eggs, smothered in American cheese, served with your choice of meat.
Sips: Bloody Mary, made just how you like it, with all manner of garnishes- or try a splash of Guinness for some extra umami.
Nosh: Classic breakfast fare with a Brix twist, their take on the southern chicken and waffles hits the spot! Breaded chicken, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, sriracha ranch and maple syrup, stuffed between two golden waffles and topped with a sunny-side-up egg is both sweet and savory. If pizza is more your thing, try their Mourning Pie. Oven-baked pizza topped with tater tots, eggs, garlic, bacon, cheddar jack, mozzarella, chives, and siracha catchup, it's sure to cure what ails you.
Sips: Channel your inner Bond with an Espresso Martini made with vanilla vodka, house-made cold brew espresso, and Bailey's- shaken, not stirred.
Nosh: Start your day with a little Breakfast Poutine! Hand-cut fries, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, all smothered in a rich hollandaise sauce. Searching for something a little more classic? Opt for the Mountain Waffles. Two perfectly crisp, Belgian Liege waffles, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles served with your choice bacon or sausage.
Sips: You can't go wrong with the quintessential mimosa, bubbles always brighten the mood.
Nosh: If you're in the mood for light brunch, Bru is the place. Get your veggies in with Bru's breakfast flatbread. Topped with eggs, sausage, broccoli, onion, tomato, and mozzarella, you'll feel better about the freshly baked scone that I'm sure you'll be enjoying for dessert. Their menu even boasts the new millennial classic- avocado toast, smashed to order and topped with tomatoes.
Sips: Bru's beer selection isn't without a sense of humor. Ever rotating, there is bound to be the perfect breakfast-inspired pint to compliment your meal.
Nosh: Looking for a little lunch on the go? Origins has got you covered. Their BLT is the perfect hot breakfast for behind the wheel. Fresh egg, New York State cheddar, crisp bacon, romaine lettuce, tomato, and mayo all layered on the bagel of your choice. While you are there, check the cooler for locally made fruit bars, filled with homemade jam.
Sips: The Dirty Elvis is an iced coffee worthy of the King. Chocolate, peanut butter, and banana are a wildly delicious combo that will have you saying, "Thank you, thank you very much!"
