Join us on May 14, 10 am- 2 pm, at the Cortland County Visitors Center. Celebrate the sweetness of spring with us at the Cortland County Visitors Center's Bee's Knees Event. We are honoring the unsung hero of gardens across the county, the humble bee, with local children's art, garden art, spring plants, garden necessities, and of course, honey tasting.
Several local beekeepers will be present to offer tastings of honey harvested throughout Cortland county. Learn the difference between spring and fall honey. Contrast and compare dark buckwheat and chestnut honey against delicate, sweet clover and alfalfa honey. Sample honey infused with chili and herbs and learn how to use honey in your favorite recipes.
The Bee's Knees Event will pay tribute to all pollinators and birds alike, with a beautiful selection of bird and bee houses for sale, built by the New Vision Environmental Science Class. A gallery of watercolors and oil pastels, created by Ms. Nels' art class will fill the center. Room to Grow Cortland will be offering elevated garden beds, seeds, and all your spring starts, to build your blooming garden. Bring home some honey-themed sweets from Baked By Amanda or perhaps some vintage upcycled planters by Maria, from the Cortland ReUse Center.
Learn what you can do to help pollinators find a safe space in your garden and help us welcome spring in Cortland County.
