Winter is here, and all three of Cortland's ski mountains are covered in snow! Each mountain resort caters to all ages, beginner to pro, with a diversity of runs, equipment rentals, and lessons.

There is more to be found than just downhill skiing; with snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and snowboarding, there is something for everyone. When you are done, stop by the lodge and fill up on some good eats and hot drinks.

Tip: because cold weather doesn't always equal snow, we suggest calling ahead to verify conditions.

The Mountains

Three ski areas make Cortland County a winter destination. Greek Peak Mountain Resort & Hope Lake Lodge is the largest in the area and truly a destination resort with all the amenities you could hope for. Labrador Mountain and Song Mountain Resort offer 40+ beginner, intermediate and expert trails. Make a long weekend of it and ski all three!

Fuel Up for Fun

Fantastic food is as much a part of the Cortland County ski experience as the mountains and snow. Skiers and riders have delicious culinary options to choose from before (or after) a day on the slopes.

CARVERS STEAKHOUSE
Greek Peak Resort
2000 NY-392, Cortland
(844) 929-0150

Shrug off your cold, wet ski gear and slip into something cute. Carver’s Steak House offers an intimate fine dining experience with an innovative menu. Indulge in a comfort food classic reimagined, their signature Wagyu Meatloaf.  House-made with decadent local wagyu beef, topped with a brown sugar glaze and bacon, served with a pile of mashed potatoes and finished with a rosemary demi-glace, this is not your mom’s meatloaf.

HEUGA'S ALPINE RESTAURANT
Song Mountain Resort
1 Song Mountain Rd, Tully
(315) 696-0006

Named for Jimmie Heuga, an Olympic ski hero, Heuga’s Alpine Restaurant is always in the winner's circle when it comes to a great meal. Nestled below Song Mountain, enjoy cocktails, and eats around a toasty fire, both in the lodge or on the patio.  Their take on Mac & Cheese, cooked to protection in a cast iron pan, topped with your choice of bacon, chicken, or teriyaki beef is just what you need to fuel your next run.

THE PUFFIN BIRD
Labrador Mountain
6935 Route 91, Truxton
(607) 842-6204

On busy weekends, you’ll often see a steady stream of smoke rising from behind the Puffin Bird. If you’re lucky, you can grab one of their house-smoked delicacies, though a steamy bowl of hearty chili always pairs well with a cold draft microbrew. Cozy and casual, this little lodge is the perfect spot after your last run.

TRAX PUB & GRILL
Greek Peak Mountain Resort
2000 NY-392, Cortland
(607) 662-3039

A massive two-story window overlooking Greek Peak turns a meal at Trax Pub & Grill into a dinner and a show! Watch skiers slalom gracefully down the mountain as you feast on one of Trax signature burgers. The Elk in Rut Burger is made with elk raised just down the road! The patty is topped with smoked cheddar, hot pepper relish, and crispy fried onions and served with a pile of fries. It’s so delicious you’ll wonder why you wait so long to try it.
