Musical Legacy Project

Step into the rich concert history of SUNY Cortland during the Musical Legacy Sculpture and Memorabilia Display on Friday, June 5. Presented as part of Cortland Arts Connect’s First Friday event, this free community celebration highlights legendary performers who took the stage on campus between 1960 and 1990, including Billy Joel, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ronnie James Dio, and Judy Collins.

Guests can explore the interactive “Unlimited Improv” sculpture by artist Scott Oldfield, view rare concert memorabilia, and see the historic Steinway grand piano played by Billy Joel during his 1972 and 1974 campus performances.

EVENT SCHEDUAL: 

5 to 8 p.m. – Reception and sculpture exhibit open to the public
5 to 8 p.m. – Meet artist Scott Oldfield and explore the “Unlimited Improv” sculpture
5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. – Historic Billy Joel Steinway piano display presentations
6 p.m. – Remarks from Scott Oldfield and Kevin Pristash
