Once Upon a Mattress

"Once Upon a Mattress," the musical comedy retelling of "The Princess and the Pea," closes out the SUNY Cortland Performing Arts Department's 2026-2027 season this spring. When Queen Aggravain decrees that no one may marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, finds a bride who can pass her tests, the unlikely Princess Winnifred arrives from the swamps and turns the kingdom upside down. With music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and a score full of wit, romance and silliness, the show is a favorite for audiences of all ages. Performances take place in the Dowd Fine Arts Center Theatre. The production runs April 2-4 and 8-11. Visit: Cortland.edu/PerformingArts for tickets and showtimes.
