Portrait of a Place is the first annual Plein Air Competition at the Center for the Arts of Homer. Artists will have the opportunity to discover the beautiful natural scenery of the Homer, New York township, and may paint at a variety of locations within the village, with suggested locations provided at check-in.

Each artist should complete at least a single two-dimensional work of art (mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, ink, mixed media, and pastels are acceptable). Paintings must be completed “en plein air” within the boundaries of Homer (village and/or township), New York and submitted to the judges by 4:00pm.

Prizes will be awarded during a reception on Saturday evening at 6:00 pm in four categories: Beginner, Novice, Advanced, and Professional. This activity is open to all artists of any skill level.
