FLOWERS FOR LUCK
Whether you are Irish or just celebrating for the day, decorating with flowers is the perfect way to get in the mood and celebrate the upcoming Spring season. Luckily, Cortland County has several florists that can help you pick out the perfect blooms.
The most popular St. Patrick's Day flowers and plants? White (or green) roses, gold blooms and fresh green plants or arrangements.
EAT CORNED BEEF & CABBAGE
You haven't celebrated like the Irish if you don't devour a plate of corned beef and cabbage is hearty and delicious. Along with this classic dish of Ireland, The Community Restaurant will be offering other tasty menu items like Rueben and shepherd's pie (RSVPs required). Hairy Tony's will also be serving up authentic eats.
If you're near Marathon, stop by Reilly's Cafe is a must-stop on your Irish culinary tour. They will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day all day with Irish specials and their delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner.
IRISH TREATS WITH A TWIST
You have to lay the base for a festive day of fun so don't skip out on an Irish-inspired breakfast. Stop by New York Bagel Café & Deli for a freshly baked bagel with a schmear of green cream cheese. Couple that with their Leprechaun Macchiato for a well-balanced breakfast. You can also find some luck at the bottom of a Coffee Mania cup o' joe. Try their Guinness Macchiato - an upside down latte flavored with Coffee Liqueur, Irish Cream and Dark Chocolate.
The Irish would agree St. Patrick's Day a good a day as any for a pint. Hop over to Homer Hops Brewing for your beverage of choice while enjoying an afternoon of background music by Zack and Brent of Rooftop Revelers starting at 1:30 p.m. Cortland Beer Company will also be slinging beers starting a 2 p.m. with Tommy Tornado providing background tunes in the evening.
If you're looking for something stronger, try one of Dasher's Corner Pub Irish-inspired cocktails including the Irish Maid, a light and refreshing drink made with muddled cucumbers, fresh lemon, 2 Gingers Whiskey and a splash of St. Germain.
The Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room will also be running an Irish special all week long with The Frisky Leprechaun. A cinnamon whiskey, ginger beer and a splash of luck. Not a whiskey fan? They will also have their "Feeling Lucky" slushie made with Thousand Islands Delaware wine and blue raspberry lemonade.
