The Cortland County Historical Society is celebrating Mother's Day in historic style with brunch at Tinelli’s Hathaway House. Does your leading lady love a good period drama? Then this is the place to be! This gorgeous stone home, built in 1844 by Major General Samuel Gilbert Hathaway, will be serving up a brunch menu that includes fresh fruit, traditional and Greek yogurt, freshly baked bread and pastries, oven-baked cinnamon bun French toast, assorted quiche, scrambled eggs, cheesy hashbrown potato casserole, applewood smoked bacon, and coffee or tea. If your mom is a foodie at heart, we recommend brunch at The Lookout at Greek Peak. Served in a stunning glass-sided barn, with views of Hope Lake below, their menu highlights include seafood paella, bananas foster, a crepe station and Italian stuffed pork loin with pear salsa. Tickets sell out quickly. Click here for more information.
PACK A PICNIC
If you can't go to brunch, host a Mother's Day picnic instead! Pack a basket with all the essentials: fresh fruit from Anderson's Farm Market, cheese curds from Trinity Valley Farm, pickled veggies from Food & Ferments, fresh-baked bread from East Side Bakery, or bagels from The Exchange Bakery, some decadent pastries from Frosted Bakery and a bottle of Strawberry Rhubarb Dessert wine from Cherry Knoll Farm. Even a simple picnic needs dessert, so stop by Sinfully Sweet Cafe to pick up a box full of her favorite chocolates.
Searching for just the right spot to spread your picnic blanket? Some of our favorite spring picnic spots include Little York Lake, Lime Hollow Nature Center and Suggett Park.
