Pack your bags and follow our relaxing three-day itinerary for the ultimate Cortland County weekend getaway.
LODGING: GLAMPING AT CHRISTMAS TREE FARM HIDEAWAY
Unwind within nature at the Christmas Tree Farm Hideaway in Truxton. The picturesque glamping site is situated on approximately 300 acres of rolling hills, surrounded by Christmas trees and overlooking a pond and valley – amazing for watching the sunrise and sunset. Go for a morning hike, make s’mores over the campfire, take a guided horseback ride (by appointment), and so much more. The Hideaway is the perfect way to unplug from busy life.
DAY 1
Begin day one of your retreat with gratifying breakfast at New York Bagel Café & Deli. Order an acai bowl, topped with granola, two fruits and toppings of choice. Don’t forget a Wild Berry Blast smoothie to set the tone for the rest of the day.
Make your way over to Waterfalls Spa at Greek Peak Mountain Resort for the ultimate pampering experience. Book an appointment and treat yourself to a variety of services including massages, facials, soaks and scrubs. Afterward, you can float to Greek Peak’s Cascade's Indoor Waterpark, which features an indoor/outdoor hot tub and heated pool.
After a day of pampering, head to downtown Cortland for some retail therapy at the assortment of local shops. Browse Just Chill Custom Gifting by Carol for specialty custom gift baskets or Crown City Curiosities for vintage clothing, jewelry and handmade items.
When it’s time for dinner, Cortland’s landmark eatery, the Community Restaurant, serves up traditional Greek and American comfort dishes and cocktails in a warm ambiance. Start with the Beet and Burrata Sla with Basil Oil, followed by a heaping plate of the Downtown Pot Roast.
DAY 2
Start day two of your Cortland County getaway with a sweet treat and coffee at Sinfully Sweet Café. Take your coffee to go and stroll through the Village of Homer; its palpable charm can quell even the most restless of minds.
Next, head to Little York Lake at Dwyer Memorial Park where you can spend the day lounging with a good book. The lake’s calm waters are suitable for paddlers of all skill levels or take a relaxing walk through the park. Regardless, we promise you'll leave the park feeling zen.
End the day at Heuga's Alpine Restaurant & Bar, located at the base of Song Mountain Resort. Enjoy a selection of New-American staples from Grilled Lemon-Pepper Chicken to the Deconstructed Tomato Pie along with access to a full bar while enjoying the beautiful views.
DAY 3
On the last day of your Cortland County vacation, pair sun salutations with garden views at Little York Plantation. The garden center has teamed up with Langan Wellness to offer evening vinyasa classes in the garden, suitable for both beginners and advanced students. There are also community yoga classes with Heart Centered Yoga with Christine available at the Crescent Commons. If a day on the green sounds more relaxing, play 18-holes at one of Cortland County’s five golf courses. Remember to take it one swing at a time.
For a quick pick-me-up before your wellness weekend getaway wraps up, head to Bru 64 for a refreshing smoothie. Add a scoop of protein for a punch. If you are feeling famished, fill up on a flatbread, salad or gluten-free bagle before you hit the road.
