Cortland Repertory Theatre's Legally Blonde was awarded three Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Awards at a ceremony held on Sunday, November 17, at the Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse.
Cortland Repertory Theatre (CRT) received a total of 48 nominations from five of their summer productions in 2019 as well as The Rat Pack Lounge from September 2018. This year's Million Dollar Quartet will be in consideration next year.
The SALT Awards are divided into three categories: Professional, Regional and Community, with CRT falling into the Regional category. Nine Academy members view hundreds of performances around the Central New York area in a year, and vote in a number of acting and technical design categories.
Trey Compton won Best Director of a Musical for Legally Blonde while also receiving a nomination for Best Director of a Play with Sleuth. Legally Blonde and Mamma Mia! were two of of five productions considered for Musical of the Year, but Legally Blonde came out with the win, while Jennifer Dasher took home the Best Costume Design of a Musical for Legally Blonde.
Diane Galutz, the Guild President of the theatre, was also honored as a recipient of the Non-Performing Person of the Year.
Congratulations to the casts, crews and design teams of all six productions!
