Cortland First Fridays joins an informal nationwide movement to celebrate the arts in local communities on the first Friday of each month. Participating galleries, studios, artists, interested businesses, music and performing arts venues will be open to the public from 5 pm to 8 pm to spotlight the arts.

On December 6, visitors will have the opportunity to explore exhibits and activities at the following locations:

Explore the 17th Annual Rock Garden Art Show in The Gallery at the Center for the Arts of Homer. Join from 5-8 to view the artwork.

David Beale and Friends will exhibit portraits by his students painted as class projects at the Cortland Free Library. David will also exhibit a selection of small paintings from his recent trip to Costa Rica.

The exhibit Beyond Places in Time by TeaYoun Kim-Kassor will be on display in the Dowd Gallery- SUNY Cortland through December 6. Visit the gallery between 5:30 and 8 pm on First Friday to see this exhibit in the Dowd Fine Arts Center Dowd Gallery.

During this last First Fridays at the 1890 House Museum of the year, the Elves are back for the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt. Hunt through all 4 floors of the 1890 House to find all of the sneaky elves who have stationed themselves around the museum. The evening also includes several readings of Elf on the Shelf books.

At the YWCA Cortland, Emily Gibbons celebrates her 10 year anniversary of moving to Cortland with an exhibit of local paintings she created here from 2010 through 2019.
