Founded in the 1860s as a railroad hotel, The St. Charles is one of Cortland County's five oldest, continually operated businesses. The hotel added a bar room and, with the exception of prohibition, has been serving patrons ever since. The St. Charles Hotel has been run by its current owners since 1978.
Today, the St. Charles prides itself on its friendly environment, being noted by many for the bar's lack of confrontations and drama. In addition to serving drinks, The St. Charles hosts many parties, gatherings, and events. They have the ability to cater to the events and also serve lunch daily, Monday through Friday.
